The Mary Giboney Memorial Scholarship

Mary Giboney (1925-2020), for whom the Giboney Foundation was named, was the matriarch of the Giboney family. Passing after 95 years, Mrs. Giboney raised 5 successful children who now have careers ranging from education, healthcare, technology and entrepreneurship. Mrs. Giboney stressed the importance of education and family, and her giving attitude and spirit is what created the vision for the Giboney Foundation. In honor of her and her legacy, the Mary Giboney Memorial Scholarship has been created to provide financial support for a student of a minority background (African-American, Latinx, and native American) pursuing an education at an accredited two or four-year university.

The Mary Giboney Memorial Scholarship for 2022-2023 offers a $5000 one-year  ($2,500 per semester) college scholarship that provides financial and personal support focused on helping Giboney Foundation scholars succeed in college and life. The Giboney Foundation Scholarship can be used at any accredited nonprofit college or university, in the United States, to pursue degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)-based fields.

While there are key metrics used to qualify for the scholarship, recipients will embody character traits essential to the spirit of Mary Giboney:

·        Leadership

·        Community Service

·        Integrity and Honesty

·        Academic Performance

·        Respect for Others
