The Giboney Foundation, Family, and Gary
The city of Gary, Indiana, hold a special place with the Giboney Foundation. Two of our board members, Qiana Newell (Kimbrough) and Qiana Givens, were born in Gary and are graduates of Westside Leadership Academy (High School). Additionally, the Giboney family has a number of members that have lived in Gary and surrounding areas, and is proud to be associated with the city.
The Workshop
The Giboney Foundation is working to continue to develop our bond with the community. In Fall 2024, The Giboney Foundation will work with the Westside Leadership Academy to provide students with an opportunity to connect with career professionals, that come from the surrounding area, to discuss their paths toward career success is areas that are historically underrepresented by people of color. The workshop will provide students an opportunity to engage, learn from , and network with industry experts from medical, technology, legal, law enforcement, and other career fields. The workshop will culminate with the announcement of scholarships for 2025 graduating seniors. More details about the scholarships will be available by January 2025.
